English: Scarp swamp, Jervis Wood East The steepest wood in S.E.Essex, Jervis Wood East, now part of Shipwright's Wood, is a small remnant of a much larger wood. On its eastern edge is a steep scarp slope of Bagshot Beds. This area is much prone to landslip and water issuing from the gravels provides for marshy areas even at times of severe drought. |
