Die Herzogsfamilie ließ sich mit ihren Hunden, einem afrikanischen Pagen, exotischen Pflanzen und einem Papagei vor heimischer Kulisse porträtieren. Auf dem Familienbildnis präsentiert sich Herzogin Johanna Elisabeth von Württemberg mit ihrem Sohn, Friedrich Ludwig von Württemberg, ihrer Schwiegertochter, Henriette Marie von Brandenburg-Schwedt und mit ihrer Enkelin, Louise Friederike zu Württemberg. Ihr Ehemann, Eberhard Ludwig, ist nicht abgebildet. Dieser lebte mit seiner einflussreichen Mätresse Wilhelmine von Grävenitz in Ludwigsburg, während die Herzogin im Schloss in Stuttgart blieb.
