Summary[edit]

Description

A U.S. Navy Sikorsky SH-3H Sea King from Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron HS-11 "Dragon Slayers" landing aboard a destroyer. HS-11 was assigned to Carrier Air Wing 1 (CVW-1) aboard the aircraft carrier USS America (CV-66) for a deployement to the Mediterranean Sea from 10 March to 14 September 1986.

During that deployment, America took part in operations "Attain Document III" (23 to 29 March) and "El Dorado Canyon" (15 April) against Libya. Note that this helicopter wears a non-standard sand-coloured camouflage. HS-11 operated a detachment from the destroyer USS Peterson (DD-969) during that period, obviously for Combat Search and Rescue operations.
