DescriptionSS Stevens okubo mediterranean mural 01.jpg |
English: SS Stevens view of A-deck, main foyer, showing Miné Okubo's Mediterranean mural map. The blue field is the Mediterranean Sea; the coastline is outlined in black; the sailing route is shown with fine white lines; port names are shown along with local features such as pyramids, palm trees, and people riding camels. The work was commissioned by interior designer Henry Dreyfuss for the new fleet of "4 Aces" vessels for American Export Lines in 1948. The mural was pictured in the Fortune magazine article, Modern Art Goes to Sea, June, 1949.
