| Description |
English: Makalu Base Camp – After my 4 years journey as a software engineer, I resigned from my job on 7th Aug 2009. Just 2 days after that I started my long planned trek towards the Makalu base camp along with my parents. I grew up watching Makalu from my village and since my childhood I wondered a lot how it would feel to be at its feet (if not at the top). In these 12 days of challenging and somewhat difficult trekking I was completely disconnected from the modern world. No internet, no phone, no road, no electricity, no media ... but still so much to see, listen, feel and so much to learn about. Once we crossed the pass Siptong La (4296m) we entered the majestic Barun Valley. I felt like I was in a different sacred world - physically, mentally and spiritually. If god should exist I'm sure s/he would live there. I'll be sharing the photographs, information and the unforgettable experiences I had in the coming days. And of course will be visiting your wonderful streams soon ... so many backlogs and so much to catch up with :)
