English: J. P. Gibson's postcard (No.30) of his and F. G. Simpson's 1907-1908 excavations at the Stanegate fortlet of Haltwhistle Burn (the name Gabaglanda is now thought spurious). The western side of the south gateway is shown, with its unusual inward-curving curtain wall. The use of a wall-chasing trench is apparent in this view, separating the rampart material from the curtain wall. Looking W
Deutsch: J. P. Gibsons Postkarte (Nr. 30) von seinen und F. G. Simpsons Ausgrabungen von 1907-1908 im Stanegatekastell Haltwhistle Burn (der Name Gabaglanda wird heute für falsch gehalten). Gezeigt wird die Westseite des Südtores das etwas hinter der Mauerflucht angelegt wurde. Zu sehen ist der Sondierungsgraben der von den Ausgräbern direkt hinter der Steinverkleidung angelegt wurde. |
