| Description |
A saw and grist mill was built here in 1789 by a religious group from Rhode Island called the Society of Universal Friends*. Their mill was destroyed in a fire in 1825. A dam for the paper mill was built upstream of the falls. In the late 1880s electricity was produced at the mill and used to light the streets of Penn Yan.
