Description: Scrapbook page contains one photograph of the ruins of the Church of St. John, with annotated information about the history of the site.

Transcription: Dates from the 11th Century. The choir & chancel were crushed by the falling of the central tower in 1470. Tradition says Harold the Saxon King was buried here. Near the church is the Anchorite's Cell where legend says King Harold lived as a hermit after the Battle of Hastings, where he had been wounded but not killed.
