English: Royal arms of George II The arms in Little St Mary's church were painted by the German portraitist, Valentine Ritz, in 1744. They show quarterly (1) the three lions of England and the lion rampant of Scotland (2) the three fleurs-de-lys of France, to which throne the first three Georges pretended (3) the harp of Ireland and (4) the white horse and electoral bonnet (plus more lions!) for Hanover. |
