Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Royal Oak, old and new. The building on the left was part of the original Royal Oak, the work Oak presumably reference to the Oak Brewery which stood nearby (see 1162643). In the late 19th century, it was known as the Fox and Grapes (the Fox family ran the brewery - again a connection?). In 1930, the Royal Oak moved to a new building nearby, a 1982 rebuilding of which can be seen on the right of the photo (see 1603684). The original building has seen various occupants since, and currently houses an Indian restaurant.
