Description
English: View to the city port of Rostock. The white ship is the MS Georg Buechner. This ship was build in 1951 as Charlesville for the Compagnie Maritime Belge du Congo, on the Congo-Belgium service. It was sold in 1967 to East-Germany. The ship could carry 9123 tdw of freight and host up to 248 passengers. The MS Georg Büchner was in service as a training ship for the East German shipping company en:Deutsche Seerederei. From the early 1990s until 2013 it served as hotelship belayed at Rostock in the city port. Despite its status of a historic site and efforts from enthusiasts to preserve it the Charlesville resp. MS Georg Buechner was sold for scrap. The unmanned ship sunk at 54-55,871'N 018-31,308'E while being towed to Lithuania. In the background below the bow of the Buechner, you may see the MS Stephan Jantzen, an icebreaker.
Deutsch: Blick auf den Rostocker Stadthafen. Das weiße Schiff ist die MS Georg Büchner, ein ehemaliges kombinierten Frachter-Passagierschiff der VEB Deutsche Seerederei. Heute als Jugendherberge und Konferenzhotel genutzt und dauerhaft am Rostocker Kabutzenhof festgemacht. Im linken Hintergrund unterhalb des Bugs der Büchner ist der Eisbrecher Stephan Jantzen zu sehen.
Français : Vue du port en centre-ville de Rostock. Le navire blanc est le "MS Georg Büchner" un navire de la "Deutsche Seerederei Rostock" (une compagnie de navigation fondée au début des années 1950 en Allemagne de l'est), construit pour le transport de passagers et fret. Aujourd'hui, il est immobilisé au lieu-dit Kabutzenhof (une partie du port) et sers comme hôtel de congrès et d'auberge de jeunesse. En arrière-plan sous la proue du Büchner, on peut apercevoir le brise-glace Stephan Jantzen.
