Title
Romano-British co-alloy stud (obv., rev.)
Description
English: Late 1st century/early 2nd century cast cu-alloy stud with a dome-shaped centrepiece made from dark blue glass. The outer edges of the object are damaged and it is difficult to tell what its original shape was; probably square- or star-shaped. The blue glass centre-piece is circular and set upon a slightly elevated panel surrounded by circular and eye-shaped punch marked decoration. The latter is enclosed by a deep groove of uncertain shape (probably square or star-shaped, following the outline of the object). The reverse is plain and flat, but covered with striations. There may be remains of tinning on the surface. The lug on the back is not pierced; however, the upper edge looks damaged and it is possible that the perforated upper half broke off and is thus missing now.
