Roman probe (profile and plan).
Description
English: Medieval cosmetic implement, which combines an ear scoop with a toothpick. The section of the shank closest to the scoop is twisted. Due to damage, the shank has been bent in two places.

The implement is silver and dates from the mid to late fourteenth century (see Egan and Pritchard, Dress Accessories 1150-1450, pp. 378-379, No. 1759).

Dimensions: reconstructed length 104 mm, width 6 mm.
