Title
Roman ear scoop
Description
English: A complete cast copper alloy ear scoop dating to the Roman period. The ear scoop is flat, save for the circular spoon bowl. The spool bowl measures 3mm in width. The object has a circular suspension loop with an internal diameter of 3mm. The stem is of similar width before expanding slightly to form both the suspension loop and the bowl. The stem is bent backwards c.18mm from the top of the suspension loop. This appears to have occurred during antiquity. It measures 28mm in length with the bend and would have measured 48mm when straight. The object has a very light green smooth patina and is in very good condition.

A similar example can be found in Crummy, (1983), p60, no. 1900.
