EOLLO IN NAPLES. Chapter I.The Vetturino. Mode of travelling in Italy. Tho vetturino. IF ever you make a journey into Italy, there isone thing that you will like very much indeed ;and that is the mode of travelling that prevailsin that country. There are very few railroadsthere; and though there are stage coaches on allthe principal routes, comparatively few people,except the inhabitants of the country, travel inthem. Almost all who come from foreign landsto make journeys in Italy for pleasure, take whatis called a vetturino. There is no English word for vetturino, becausewhere the English language is spoken, there is nosuch thing. The word comes from the ItalianWord vettura, which means a travelling carriage,und it denotes the man that owns the carriage,and drives it wherever the party that employshim wishes to go.
