Description Rochester is England's second oldest Cathedral. The oldest is at Canterbury some 25 miles by road from here. Rochester is really a grand Parish Church in comparison but it has had some interesting additions to the original Norman structure started in 1080 most notably a very grand Romanesque facade that gives it an almost fairytale appearance
