In M ist eine durch den großen Kreis angedeutete Scheibe drehbar gelagert. Die Scheibe bewegt sich frei hinter S. Durch ein Gewicht bei P behält die Scheibe sowohl bei der Drehung um M (gelagert) als auch um S (frei beweglich) ihre Position mit P als tiefstem Punkt bei. Führt die Strecke LM eine Umdrehung um S aus, so vollführt die Scheibe eine rotationslose Revolution um S. Wird M wie im Bild gegen den Uhrzeigersinn gedreht, so dreht P im Uhrzeigersinn (Pfeile).
