Instead of being-tempered, as they are at present, by therelations of the earth and sun, the coldof winter would be aggravated by theremoval of that luminary to a greaterdistance in space, and on the other handthe heat conditions of summer would beintensified. Astronomers have estimated with carethe variation in climate produced by thecircumstances here referred to.
