Français : Lettre d'un "manœuvrier" du Richelieu pour son épouse à New-York, en franchise partielle (par voie de surface) avec affranchissement à 9p correspondant à la surtaxe aérienne, trois timbres annulés par cachet administratif "MARINE FRANCAISE / SERVICE A LA MER // (ancre)" date manuscrite 7 juin, date à laquelle le Richelieu est au Nord de Sumatra. Pas de cachet postal de départ. Transit US NAVY 19/6/45, New-York GPNY en rouge (Général Post office New York) et réexpédition vers Montreal 29/6/45.

drapeau SEACdrapeau GPRF15 MARS 1945 : Le «Bâtiment de ligne Richelieu», qui a déjà participé aux opérations navales contre les Japonais au sein de la marine britannique au large de Sumatra du 10 avril 1944 jusqu'au 10 septembre 1944, retourne à Ceylan le 15 mars 1945 après un carénage en Afrique du Nord.

Après avoir traversé le canal de Suez, le navire arriva le 10 avril 1944 à Trincomalee, dans l'île de Ceylan, où il fut accueilli par la flotte britannique commandée par l'amiral Somerville. Il participa à la couverture des porte-avions effectuant des bombardements aériens de Sabang dès le 19 avril (Opération Cockpit, du 16 au 20 avril ), de Surabaya (Opération Transom, du 6 au 27 mai). De passage à Colombo, il reçut la visite du Vice-Amiral Lord Louis Mountbatten, Commandant Suprême Allié en Asie du Sud-Est.

Puis il participa à la couverture d'un bombardement aéronaval de Port-Blair, dans les Îles Adaman (Opération Pedal, du 19 au 29 juin) et prit part à un bombardement de Sabang (Opération Crimson, du 22 au 29 juillet). [source : Wikipedia].

Il partira pour l'Indochine le 12 septembre.

Le très rare courrier connu est sur aérogramme militaire britannique en franchise ou sur lettre affranchie (pour la surtaxe aérienne) en timbres britanniques avec cachet «MARINE FRANÇAISE / SERVICE A LA MER // (ancre)», sans cachet postal de départ.
