Summary
[edit]A w:Richard Donisthorp (fl. 1979) 8 day long case clock movement, weight driven, with date dial and single chime.
Nearest to the camera is the drum that drives the striking mechanism, with the square shaft which takes the key meeting the back of the clock face on the right.
At the left towards the bottom and almost out of sight is the top of the w:pendulum suspension where it passes through the jaws of the w:escapement lever on its way to the suspension point, nearer the top.
At the top of the picture is the rather crude chime, with the shadow of the hammer on it.
The entire movement is somewhat agricultural and very simple. Most of the fastenings are by iron or steel pins anchoring pegs through a plate. There is no "night" setting in this clock, which strikes all the hours, day and night.
