Description
Español: "Retrato de Carlos II niño", de Sebastián de Herrera Barnuevo, conservado en el Museo Lázaro Galdiano. Hacia 1667-1671.

  • Descripción: En pie, vestido con orangina roja, ropilla y calzones rojos también y mangas rizadas. En la derecha lleva la bengala de general y en la izquierda un gran sombrero d eplumas. Cabellos largos y rizados, con raya a la izquierda. Junto al rey niño, sobre una mesa con tapete de terciopelo, la corona real, y a su espalda, el león hispano con la bola del mundo.

  • Historia del Objeto: Formó parte de la colección reunida por José Lázaro en París. Adquirido, probablemente, entre 1936 y 1940.
  • Clasificación Razonada: Este ejemplar es de notable calidad, y puede considerarse también obra personal de Herrera Barnuevo que, como sabemos, fue pintor de Cámara a la muerte de Mazo en 1667, hasta su propio fallecimiento en 1671. [...] E, Young se inclinó a asignarlo a Herrera Barnuevo, de quien ha de ser considerado como una de sus mejores obras.
