This loop is passed around either the upper or lowerjaw, or around both jaAvs. Instead of the twitch, the ChampionHog Holder, Figure 322, may be applied to the upper jaw (b).This holder is made entirely of metal and by slight traction byone man, with one hand (f) the largest hog can be held per-fectly secure without assistance.

Figure 323 represents a practical method of securing a hogby placing a loop around the upper jaw back of the canine teeth,and fixing the free end of rope or cord around a post or tree. Figure 324 represents a practical method of securing a largehog when only one assistant is available. A heavy rope witha loop on one end is placed over the head, neck and one leg (a) 282 RESTRAINT OF DOMESTIC ANIMALS. (b). The free end of tlie rope is thrown over a beam abovethe hog. Traction on this rope will raise fore feet of the hogoff the ground and place it in a helpless position.
