MISSIONS IN PERSIA The problems of Persia facing the Presbyterian Church at home,are great. Swept by war, famine and disease, Persia calls for helpor she will perish. The Rev. George F. Zoeckler of Hamadan insumming up the situation writes as follows: In large areas in the northwestern part of the country great massesof people have been left homeless; their means of subsistence have beenruthlessly destroyed, their cattle sheep and beasts of burden have been car-ried ofT; their agricultural implements have been destroyed; they have noseed grains for a new start in life. Other parts of northern Persia, thoughnot suffering in the same manner as the Urumia district, have been devastatedand depleted. In addition, the means of communication between the citiesof the country have been so disrupted by the ravages of famine, that travelis well nigh impossible.
