THE SUPERVISION OF HIGH SCHOOLS By Samuel M. NorthSupervisor of High Schools 1. PROGRESS, 1918-19. Owing to the fact that the writers period of volunteer service in theU. S. Army extended from October, 1918, to x\ugust, 1919, the routinework of visiting the Approved High schools fell upon his colleagues,the Supervisor of Rural Schools and the Supervisor of Colored Schoolswho willingly carried this additional work as part of their share ofpatriotic effort. High School Teachers Regional Meetings It was found that but few of the regional high school teachers meet-ings could be held, so large a proportion of the teaching force havingentered the Government employ; only three of the ten meetings plannedwere actually held, i, e., those at Catonsville, Salisbury and Centreville.This objective will, however, be pursued next year (1919-20), as ourregular teachers are returning in large numbers to their school work.
