Description
English: Rennie Estate (part) Rotherhithe, London, SE16 Situated on the east side of Galleywall Road, built upon Cranham Road and Parfitt Road about late 1960's to early 1970's. Named after John Rennie (1761-1821)a bridge builder and canal architect. The estate consists of the following houses :- Barry (3 blocks) Sir John (1836-1918)engineer for Tower Bridge : Barlow (2 blocks) Peter (1809-1885)a railway engineer : Beamish - Richard (1798-1873) assistant engineer at the Thames Tunnel : Dodd - Ralph (1756-1822) a canal builder : Donkin (2 blocks as shown) Bryan (1768-1855)manufacturer of large rolls of paper : Fitzmaurice - Sir Maurice (1861-1924) engineer for the Rotherhithe Tunnel : Landmann - I pass on this bloke : Trevithick - Richard (1771-1833) steam locomotive pioneer.
