Français : Illustration du principe d'un réfractomètre: Une goutte du liquide à tester (en jaune) est déposée sur un prisme d'indice connu (en bleu). On éclaire le système avec une lumière monochromatique en incidence rasante. Un viseur en sortie de prisme permet de voir la limite (très nette) entre la plage sombre et la plage illuminée. En connaissant la position de cette limite et l'indice du prisme, on peut remonter à l'indice de l'échantillon.
English: Sketch of a refraction mesurement: a small amount of liquid is placed on top of a prism. The prism is enlighted with monochromatic rays grazing the surface. After the prism, the space is devided into the enlighted part and the dark part. Knowing the position of this sharp boundary and the index of the prism, it is possible to deduce the index of the liquid. |
