Summary[edit]

Description
English: comparison of reflected light:

(a) Light propagating in a material with refractive index n1 reflects with a 180° (π) phase change at the interface with a material of index n2 if n1 < n2.

(b) Light propagating in a material with refractive index n1 reflects with no phase change at the interface with a material of index n2 if n1 > n2.

In both cases light transmittes with no phase change.
