English: The red-whiskered bulbul, also known as the crested bulbul, is a passerine bird indigenous to Asia and a prominent member of the bulbul family. Functioning as a resident frugivore, it predominantly inhabits tropical regions of Asia. Notably, this species has been introduced to various tropical areas worldwide, where populations have successfully established themselves.

This medium-sized songbird is characterized by a brown dorsal plumage and whitish ventral coloring, accompanied by a distinctive tall black crest and a dark "spur" on the side of the breast. Additional distinctive features include a small red patch on the ear and red undertail coverts, along with white tips on its tail feathers. Typically found in pairs or small groups, the red-whiskered bulbul occupies diverse habitats such as gardens, orchards, forest edges, and open forests.

Its pleasant song is comprised of rich, warbled phrases, while its vocalizations encompass high-pitched pips, a long buzzy note, and a sharp "pik-pik-a-wew." Noteworthy in the Asian cagebird trade, this species occasionally establishes escapee populations beyond its natural range, including introductions to Florida, California, and Hawaii.
