Summary

[edit]
Description
English: "Overview of the steps required to perform shape alignment and ancestral state reconstruction between the surface models of the cerebral cortices of two sister species. a For two species, anatomy and geometric features are assigned to each point on their cortical mesh; (b) after spectral embedding of both surfaces, alignment establishes dense correspondence between the cortices of the two species; (c) the shape of the common ancestors is reconstructed based on these correspondences by interpolating in the space of smooth shells; (d) finally, cortical features are estimated for the common ancestor, and the reconstruction is iterated until the root of the phylogenetic tree is reached."
