English: On June 29, 2021, more than 30 partners gathered at the Berks Community Health Center (BCHC) in Reading, Pa., for a press event announcing a joint initiative between the Departments of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and Health and Humans Services (HHS) to increase COVID-19 vaccinations in underserved communities across the mid-Atlantic region. Participating in the event were HUD Mid-Atlantic Deputy Regional Administrator Jane Miller, HHS Region 3 Acting Regional Director Dalton Paxman, HRSA Region 3 Acting Regional Administrator Leah Suter, Reading Mayor Eddie Morán, Berks Community Health Center President and CEO Mary Kargbo and Reading Housing Authority Executive Director Stacey Keppen. A tour of the BCHC (one of HRSA’s federally qualified health centers) and a walk-up vaccine clinic followed the event. |
