| Description |
English: Rathbaun Farm - Brendan bus & cottage at entrance This 80 acre farm is located a bit east of Ardrahan a short distance off RR347. The Burke and Connolly family have been farming here for over 200 years. Fintan Connolly is presently farming this land. The main livestock are sheep, but there are also some cows and horses. The property includes a 200 year old thatched roof cottage home and a few farm buildings. Frances Thompson, a native of Ardrahan, is the hostess who greets visitors and serves them freshly baked scones & tea. Fintan gives a tour of the farm and talks about the life of a rural farmer, sheep dog herding, sheep shearing, etc. Buff, the sheep dog, was quite anxious to get to work. |
