Description
English: Ratargul Swamp Forest, Gowainghat, Sylhet, Bangladesh. 15 July 2014. Currently popular traveling place in Ratargul. The Rainy seasons hundred of tourists gathering everyday in this Ratargul forest by little wooden boat.

Ratargul Natural Swamp Forest is a freshwater swamp forest located in Gowainghat Upozzila, Sylhet, Bangladesh. It is the only swamp forest located in Bangladesh and one of the few freshwater swamp forests in the country. The forest is naturally conserved under the Department of Forestry, Govt. of Bangladesh.

The evergreen forest is situated by the river Goain and linked with the cannel Chenger Khal. Most of the trees grow here are Pongamia pinnata (Koroch tree) and Hijol Trees. The forest goes under 20-25 feet water at rainy season. Rest of the year the water level is about 3-5 feet deep and some place is fully Dries up. Photo by Md. Akhlas Uddin, EFIAP
