| Description |
English: Range observer's hut on the northern side of Hampton Ridge, New Forest Built into the hillside, this brick observer's hut overlooks the butts of a disused Volunteer rifle range on the side of Hampton Ridge. The range was established in 1894, presumably it was thought suitable because of the remoteness of the heathland. The whole area was fenced off and used/abused as an experimental bombing range during the Second World War. |
