Radiigera cinnamomea Zeller Image location: Pierce Township, Clermont Co, Ohio, USA R. cinnamomia was originally decribed in the Eastern US, but the type specimen has been lost. Description can be seen at: http://www.cybertruffle.org.uk/... Growing gregariously from ground well covered in decayed, finely shredded woods, likely hardwood. 2-4cm, shrinking to 1-3 cm. Firm exterior, soft, marshmallowy interior that became gooey over time. Surface white changing to dull cinnamon brown with concolorous scales. Columella and radial pattern extending to edge of endoperidium clearly visible. Columella concolorous with gleba. Sterile base slightly convex above, attenuate below. Long, copious white rhizomes. Stained pinkish over time on the peridium. Endoperidium readily seperating from gleba upon dying. KOH was red to black on exterior, negative on interior. Iron salts were grey fading away on exterior, negative on interior. Used references: Zeller, S.M. 1948. Notes on certain Gasteromycetes, including two new orders. Mycologia. 40(6):639-668
