Italiano: STATUA BIFRONTE antropomorfa. Due figure in posizione assisa, una maschile e l'altra femminile si danno le spalle condividendo la cavità che si apre sullla sommità della testa, destinata ad ospitare la ""medicina"". Le braccia scendono aderenti al busto con mani che cingono il ventre. I volti presentano la forma romboidale tipica dello stile hemba, con ampia fronte bombata, arcata sopraccigliare curvulinea, occhi abbassati a chicco di caffé, naso sottile e piccola bocca chiusa.
Queste figure fanno parte del corredo dell'indovino e simboleggiano, nella loro bifrontalità e nella compresenza di maschile e femminile, la sua onniveggenza, la capacità di guardare in più direzioni. La parte più importante di questo oggetto rituale è però quella nascosta, la ""medicina"" raccolta nella cavità della testa (o nel corno animale che vi è infisso) che attiva la potenza della figura mettendola in contatto con il mondo extra-umano. |
