Summary[edit]

Description
English: The figure ‘RGPS – Left-hand and Right-hand Rule of Primary Motions of Weaving’ illustrate the directions of primary motions viz. Shedding, Picking and Beating of Weaving.

The primary motions of weaving are Shedding, Picking and Beating. In the figure ‘RGPS – Left-hand and Right-hand Rule of Primary Motions of Weaving’, i) the left-hand and right-hand thumb fingers together show the bottom to top and top to bottom vertical directional motion of the heald / harness / end operating device to perform shedding; ii) the left-hand middle finger shows the left to right horizontal directional motion of the shuttle / pick carrying device for picking and the right-hand middle finger shows the right to left horizontal directional motion of the shuttle / pick carrying device for picking and iii) the left-hand and right-hand index fingers together show the backward motion of the sley and the left-hand and right-hand ring and baby fingers together show the forward motion of the sley for beating. The four ring and baby fingers together compared with two index fingers show that the forward motion of sley is faster than the backward motion (eccentricity of sley) to get sufficient force for beating. The Red, Green and Blue colour arrows used respectively to follow the sequence of Shedding, Picking and Beating motions.

The initials of Dr. Panneerselvam R.G., the name of inventor has been included and the rule is titled as ‘RGPS – Left-hand and Right-hand Rule of Primary Motions of Weaving’.
