Description
English: This is Mr. R.K. Law, pictured on the day he was called to the Bar. What an apt surname!


We were initially a little tentative about the dating for this one, because it seemed unlikely that Bar Ceremonies would be held on a Saturday, and it looks as if we may have been right to be doubtful...

Thanks to Paddy Waldron for the following information from page 226 of King's Inns Barristers 1868-2004 by Kenneth Ferguson, 2005:
"LAW, ROBERT KENNETH (b. 21 June 1906) only s. of Frederick William Law, of Evington, Carlow, Co. Carlow, and Eveleen Edith Dockeray; B.A. (Mod.), LL.B. (T.C.D.)"

Apparently, R.K. Law was the only one called to the Bar in Hilary Term 1929. Our problem is that the book gives the date as Tuesday, 18 January 1929, but the 18th fell on a Friday. So it looks as if this photo was taken on Friday, 18 January 1929.
