Description
English: Vintage 2.5 x 4.25 carte de visite portrait of Queen Emma in a lovely half-length pose, signed in the lower border in ink, "Emma, Mar 3rd 1873." Published by H. L. Chase of Honolulu, Hawaii. In fine condition. Queen Emma of Hawaii. A book The Queen's Medical Center dates this photograph to circa 1859. A similar ambrotype was presented to Lady Jane Franklin as a farewell gift in 1861 [1]. Carte de visits by Henry L. Chase. It is not certain if Chase was the original photographer since he did not come to Hawaii until 1862.
