Quadrat on a beach

Summary[edit]

Description
English: A 50-cm quadrat and a 30 cm ruler on a pebble beach at Burton Bradstock, part of the Chesil Beach, about 3 km from the western end (West Bay) and 24 km from its eastern end (Portland). The quadrat was used for sizing the pebbles along the Beach. At the eastern end of the Chesil Bank, the pebbles average 35 mm in size.[1] Here, as shown by the quadrat, the pebbles are 2 to 3 mm in size. This image was taken during a school fieldwork project.
