| Description |
English: Puttenham Bottom Lock with lock gates open The bottom end of Lock 11 with the gates open and folded back into alcoves in the wall of the lock. Half way along the lock a ladder was installed a few years ago in case anyone fell into the lock when the lock was empty and the bottom gates closed. This was presumably done because someone muttered Heath and Safety - which no-one worried about for the first 150 years of the lock's life. |
