Description

Scope and content: This file unit consists of correspondence relating to the purchase and distribution of oil for lighthouses in Massachusetts and Maine received by Superintendents of Massachusetts Lighthouses Benjamin Lincoln, Henry Dearborn, and Henry A.S. Dearborn. Included are correspondence from Treasury Secretary Albert Gallatin and Revenue Commissioners William Miller and Samuel Smith. The file unit also contains correspondence related to the supply of oil for lighthouses in New London, Connecticut and Newport, Rhode Island.
