| Description |
English: Basilica of Saint Nicholas, Bari, Apulia, Italy. The ceiling, a work by Carlo Rosa of Bitonto, was executed between 1661 and 1673. Three large paintings decorate the vault over the nave. In the center, the rectangular one represents Saint Nicholas saving some fishermen threatened by a big cetacean. The octagonal painting closer to the choir reproduces the scene of Saint Nicholas at the Council of Nicaea.
Italiano: Basilica di San Nicola, Bari, Puglia, Italia. Il soffitto, di Carlo Rosa di Bitonto, è stato eseguito tra il 1661 e il 1673. Tre grandi dipinti decorano la volta piana della navata principale. Al centro, quella rettangolare rappresenta San Nicola che salva alcuni pescatori minacciati da un grande cetaceo. Il dipinto ottagonale più vicino al coro riproduce la scena di San Nicola al Concilio di Nicea.
