The Public Service Building (1928), Libertyville, Illinois. It was designed by Hermann V. von Holst, associated of Frank Lloyd Wright.

Summary[edit]

Description
English: The Public Service Building in Libertyville (1928). It was designed by Hermann V. von Holst, best known for leading Frank Lloyd Wright's architectural practice while Wright was overseas with Mamah Cheney. It was built for Sameul Insull, who moved to Libertyville from Chicago in 1907. He owned over 6,000 acres of land south of the town which he planned to develop. Insull also owned several local institutions, including the Libertyville Trust & Savings Bank. The building was constructed for the bank and his Public Service Company. From 1907 to 1932, von Holst was the chief designer for Insull, and he designed several other structures related to Insull's holdings. Insull lost everything in the Great Depression, and had to flee to France to escape his shareholders and the law.
