Description |
Transcribed from photograph: "Houses. Angeline, Princess. House. Pike St. and Western Ave. Built 1881. Built for her by the pioneers. Watercolor by C.C. Maring." Paul Dorpat's blog post "Seattle Now & Then: Finding Kikisoblu (aka ‘Princess Angeline’)" places the site of the home close to Pike St. and Western Ave. Although Seattle Public Library dates this "ca. 1881" it is probably about a decade later than that. Princess Angeline's home was much photographed in the 1890s, but more or less ignored before that in term of images of the city. She died in May 1896. |
