Français : Photographie: Le prince Fushimi, fils du mikado du Japon, Maison Hugh Allan, Montréal, QC, 1907; Plaque sèche à la gélatine; 25 x 20 cm « En juin 1907, le prince Fushimi Hiroyasu débarquait à Québec. Né en 1875, il était membre de la Maison impériale du Japon. Après des études à l'Académie navale de la Kaiserliche Marine en Allemagne, il fait carrière dans la marine nipponne. Au moment de sa retraite, il était amiral. En mai 1907, il est reçu par le roi Edouard VII en Angleterre et en Écosse. Une fois ce périple complété, il rentre au Japon à bord du tristement célèbre Empress of Ireland, via le Canada. Il débarque à Québec le 7 juin 1907. Il avait traversé l’Atlantique avec Earl Grey, le gouverneur-général du Canada. Il est reçu à l’Hôtel de Ville par le maire et d’autres invités de marque. Le soir, il est reçu par le lieutenant-gouverneur Louis-A. Jetté lors d’un dîner officiel à Spencer Wood. Il passe évidemment la nuit au Château Frontenac. Par la suite, il traverse le Canada en train, s’arrêtant à Montréal, Ottawa, Toronto, Winnipeg, Calgary, Banff, Vancouver et Victoria. De là, il retourne au Japon à bord du HMS Monmouth. » – Société historique de Québec |
