Summary

Description

Overhead view of Preble Field, looking south toward Camp Nimitz, Coronado Island, and Point Loma.

Preble Field was the marching grinder used for training recruits in marches and maneuvers, as well as recruit pass-in-review (graduation). On the southern end of Preble Field was Sealanes, the NTC Bowling Alley (Building 85, constructed 1964, demolished), as well as the boxing ring (demolished), and the Hull athletic field.

Today, the area is now part of Liberty Station. Preble Field itself is a dirt lot, but is currently under construction to become a large park.
