Description
Stamp depicts a generic formula for an amino acid where R stands for "radical." In organic chemistry, this nomenclature represents the possibility of any one of a series of aliphatic groups, like methyl, ethyl, propyl, butyl, etc. The "NH2" on the right side is the amino group and the "COOH" is a carboxylic acid. The "C" in the middle is a carbon atom and the "H" on the left is a hydrogen atom.
