Description |
English: Moncton, Washington was a small settlement on Rattlesnake Lake, northwest of Cedar Lake in central King County. In 1912, Seattle utility officials changed the name of the town to Cedar Falls when a hydroelectric plant was built there to generate electricity for Seattle. This photographic postcard, postmarked February 10, 1912, shows the post office at Moncton, renamed Cedar Falls later that year. Written on verso: Message: Received your card am glad you are settled will surely be pleased to come and see you when in Tacoma. You have 4 papers here. Will send them by this mail. We will be pleased to have you both come and see us. Original photographic print (postcard): ca. 1912. Copied in 1998 by the Museum of History and Industry.
