Title |
Post Medieval statuette head |
||
Description |
English: A small lead alloy hollow cast head from a statue. The head appears to have tight curly hair and possibly negroid features. The head has been broken of from the rest of the statue by a ragged break along the neck which is patinated. The head is 41.1mm long, 30.5mm wide, 2.3mm thick and weighs 49.9g. The head has been examined by Sally Worrell, the National Finds Adviser for Roman and Prehistoric Finds. She said that the style of the statue and the fineness of the moulding suggested a recent, probably 18th century date.
It is 41.1mm long by 30.5mm wide and the sides are 2.3mm thick; it weighs 49.9 |
