Title
Post Medieval Rowel Spur
Description
English: Post-medieval gilt copper alloy possible spur rowel in the form of an openwork six-pointed star. Each point is largely taken up with a teardrop-shaped aperture, and on both faces a groove runs from the central hole between each point to a very small double lobe. No parallel has been noted, and the object's flimsiness suggests that its identification as a spur rowel should remain speculative. Most of the gilding has been lost. Thickness 1.3mm. Diameter 29mm. Perhaps 16th - 17th century.
